Growing up in a poor family in rural Malaysia, Swee Tan worked hard in the plantations dreaming of a better future. Swee Tan's tale is one of transformation from a gifted boy in Malaysia to an innovative surgeon changing the world of medicine.The book was started by Hana Olds when she was 11 years old in 2011, and completed in 2012 while studying at Wellington High School. The book is self-published and all proceeds go to the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute. Hana received support in the writing of this book from Gifted Kids, a non-profit organization in NZ.
